When it comes to choosing the right toy for your child it is important that you get a range of things for them because in doing this you are going to be broadening their minds a lot more. It is not a case of I should be buying them many video games or many different forms of model kits but a combination of them both.
Video Gaming
Although a lot of people are constantly complaining that these are bad for kids I really do totally disagree with this completely. There is no way at all there is anything wrong with playing video games as long as your children are playing the right games for them. The games out there are of course given the ratings they receive for good reason so know this well. Letting them get on with playing an 18+ game is essentially bad parenting as more often than not there is a lot of violence in these games. There are many sites out there that specialise in talking about video games for children so they are worth checking out if you are unsure about one of the newest games that are coming out.
Model Kits
Model kits like train sets and RC helicopter are great for kids, there is no doubt about this at all however the same thing applies, you need to make sure you are getting something suitable for their age range. By doing this you are far more likely to get your child into a hobby that is not video gaming, this is just as fun.
When it comes to making a decision it is not a choice between the newest video game and the newest toy, not by any means. The main thing to do is mix things up for the child, have a bit of everything.
