Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the Cataclysm and all the changes. Exploring the new Azeroth and meeting new NPCs is absolutely spectacular. But I have to think about how exciting the new stuff will be the second and third time I level a new character.
Soon everything will be known and back to the old, mindless grind. Of course there’s still a way to get it over with faster and start enjoying the endgame content again!
The first step is to throw all the old talent builds overboard. With the new talent trees and mechanics you can’t use any of them to streamline your character. Unfortunately there are still thousands of websites on those old, worthless builds. It’s difficult to find the new ones.
Here’s my strategy: I go with a talent build that suits my unique style of playing instead of a one-size-fits-all build! The best build will not help you to level any faster if you can’t get the right feel for the skills and you will actually waste more time instead.
But my best strategy is this one: Get in the habit of batching. That’s a concept commonly known from the corporate world. Try to batch similar activities - for example buy all your glyphs right at the beginning. Maybe you want to prepare all your equipment for the whole game. Using this technique it’s no big deal to prepare all your items in no time at all. No need to visit the AH all the time. You will have everything ready in your bag for when you need it.
The concept works perfectly when it comes to buying green gear for all the levels up ahead and bring them with you. Buying blue items costs too much in my opinion. Remember that stamina is necessary to survive, even for mages like you.
