Home Brew Games: Going 3D

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

One of the most popular gaming devices available on the market these days is the Nintendo DS and improvements have seen us with the DSi and now the 3DS with its innovative technology. Now that this technology is out there on the market the growth in home brew games that are taking advantage of the 3DS is huge.

People using DS consoles have been using Kernels which will bypass the security that Nintendo have placed in the systems; this is something that has been done for years now. These new alternative Kernels have allowed the DS to play movies and other media files direct from SD cards or SDHC cards and now that can be done with the 3DS.

Nintendo are understandably not happy that people are circumventing their security features but far from hamper sales of the units they are believed to give the unit a wider appeal. However there are people out there using the Kernels to illegally download pirated games and this is not good for the industry.

There will be more need for the Nintendo 3DS when more software is written because developers can code home brew games; one thing is for sure, introducing new features is just going to make Nintendo more appealing. You might even want to consider the possibility that Nintendo are not doing anything about the use of alternative Kernels on purpose; surely there must be a way for them to stop this after so many years on the market.

No matter what you are using the Nintendo 3DS for, it is surely going to be a device that will go down in history and could soon put its stable mates in the shade. And with the continued development of its features thanks in part to some individuals Nintendo are guaranteed to have a 3D market for years to come.

R4i are available in numerous products these days. An RD card is surely a great illustration of this. One more thing that is utilized these days is the ps3 jailbreak.
